Spencerport man pleads guilty to attempted receipt of child pornography
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Spencerport man has pleaded guilty to charges of attempted receipt of child pornography.
The Western District of New York announced the plea Monday, saying 46-year-old Dale Trimmer pleaded guilty to the charges which stem from an investigation in December of 2020.
Trimmer admitted to using a chat app to speak with who he thought was a 13-year-old girl, engaging in explicit conversations and attempting to solicit explicit photos, as well as sending explicit videos of himself.
Trimmer discussed meeting up with the girl, who was really an undercover officer.
Instead, he was arrested on Feb. 17, 2021.
Trimmer was convicted on charges of disseminating indecent material to minors back in 2006 and was sentenced to serve six months in the Monroe County Jail followed by five years’ probation.
Prosecutors say, in that case, Trimmer also used a chat app and attempted to meet up with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl, and that in those chats, he told the undercover officer he had abused at least two minors in the past.
Trimmer is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2022. He faces a minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of 20 years and up to a $250,000 fine.
