PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WHEC) — First-year students at St. John Fisher College were welcomed to the Pittsford campus on Saturday.
The college reports this is one of the largest groups of Freshmen in the college’s history with about 600 students.
Fisher says the Class of 2025 is made up of students with strong academics and is the most diverse class to date.
Jose Perales is Vice President for Enrollment Management.
Perales explained how the college is COVID-testing students as part of the process.
"Students were aware prior to coming to today. Many of the students moved in their belongings in the last couple of weeks. As they’re kind of finalizing their move-ins today. The first step of doing that is to pull-in here for ‘entry testing’. So, each of our resident students are here to test. They receive their results within 15 minutes. As they wait for their results, they’re pulling up to their residence halls, and they’re preparing to move-in. So we’re expecting a very successful morning in that way. It’s gone very smoothly as you can see behind me. The cars are moving through, the move-ins are happening, so we’re prepared, " Perales said.
The first-year students were greeted with a welcome parade of faculty, staff and current students. Upperclassmen at St. John Fisher College return to campus on Monday.
