ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New York movie theaters can apply for a liquor license starting Thursday.

The State Liquor Authority is allowing them to sell beer and wine and allowing movie-goers to drink in the theater, rather than before the movie in designated areas.

The Liquor Authority’s vote Wednesday was unanimous and it takes effect immediately for cinemas that are already licensed.
