State Route 96 bridge over Erie Canal to close

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WHEC) – The State Route 96 bridge over the Erie Canal in the Village of Pittsford will close on June 1.

The rehabilitation project will result in the bridge being closed for about 12 weeks.

The DOT is recommending the following detours:

• Northbound traffic along State Route 96 should utilize State Route 31, Interstate 490 and State Route 31F.
• Southbound traffic along State Route 96 should utilize French Road and State Route 31.
• Pedestrians should utilize State Route 31 and Schoen Place. The Canalway Trail will remain open throughout the project.
