ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — MLB veteran and 2019 World Series MVP Stephen Strasburg impressed in his start with the Rochester Red Wings Friday night.

The three-time MLB all-star went six innings, allowing only one hit and zero earned runs. Strasburg also walked one runner and struck out four batters he faced.

Strasburg’s quality start was enough to help the Red Wings to a 2-1 lead over the Buffalo Bisons. The win puts the Red Wings a whole 2.5 games ahead of Buffalo, as both western NY teams head up the International League East.

Strasburg, who’s rarely 100%, is looking to get back into the rotation for the Washington Nationals at some point this season. Red Wings manager Matt LeCroy did not say whether or not Strasburg will get another tune-up before being called up to Washington.
