ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Unions representing the staff and faculty at SUNY and CUNY schools across the state want Gov. Hochul and state lawmakers to commit $500 million more in funding to their campuses.

Hochul’s proposed budget already calls for reinvestment in NY’s public higher education system.

However, these unions say that more money would strengthen the state’s workforce and economic tax base, while also helping to reduce economic and racial inequality.
