Teenager remains in stable condition after being struck by car

IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WHEC) — A teenage girl hit by a car on Sunday night is now in stable condition.

Irondequoit Police say that Janeliz Wilson was the victim struck in the incident. Wilson is both a resident of Irondequoit and a student at IHS.

At approximately 8:10 p.m. Irondequoit Police Department responded to the report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Seneca Avenue.

The preliminary investigation shows that two teenage girls were walking together on Roger’s Parkway on their way back from a store. They were crossing Seneca Avenue—at which point one of the girls stopped walking and the other girl continued, where she was then hit by a car traveling Southbound on Seneca Avenue.

The female struck was transported to Strong Hospital with what were considered serious injuries.

Irondequoit Police Chief Alan Laird said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver was uninjured.

No charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
