Third person charged in June murder on Genesee and Sawyer street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A third person has been charged for the June murder of Brandon McClary, 22, on the corner of Genesee Street and Sawyer Street.

Willie Shipmon, 24 of Rochester, was charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned on those charges on Sunday.

The Rochester Police Department also arrested Dayvon Dunbar, 20, in late July and Troy Jones, 21, in late June. They were also charged with the murder of McClary and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said McClary was shot multiple times on June 17 and was taken to URMC for medical treatment, where he died. RPD responded around 7 p.m.

RPD Capt. Frank Umbrino said McClary’s death was the 29th homicide of 2021 in Rochester.

Jones has pleaded not guilty and Dunbar was arraigned on July 19.
