ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New York State just sent out $117,000 in coronavirus rent relief money for landlords and tenants struggling because of the pandemic.
Lawmakers have two concerns: That it’s too little to help, and that the state’s eviction moratorium is nearing its expiration.
The legislature plans to hold a hearing on the slow roll-out of the rent relief program.
According to U.S. Treasury data released Thursday, New York was the last state to start distributing money from the federally funded rent relief program.
New York’s eviction moratorium expires on Aug. 31.
