Tops stores to hold moment of silence to honor victims of Buffalo shooting

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WHEC) — All Tops locations will hold a moment of silence on Saturday, exactly one week after the tragic shooting took place in a Tops in Buffalo.

The moment of silence will take place at 2:30 p.m., which is roughly the same time that a racist gunman shot and killed ten Black people shopping at the chain grocery store.

“Everyone involved deserves our thanks and our prayers. To our Tops associates who did everything in their power to selflessly protect each other and our customers. To law enforcement and our first responders, we thank you for your service and bravery," said John Persons, president of Tops Friendly Markets.

The moment of silence is just one example of how the Buffalo and Western New York communities have held strong together. In addition, the community is encouraged to use the hashtag, #BuffaloStandsTogether, to honor the victims of the shooting.
