ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Drivers who commute the I-490/I-590 interchange should expect lane and shoulder closures starting Monday.
The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of anticipated daytime shoulder closures and nighttime ramp closures at the I-490/I-590 interchange beginning next week.
On Monday, April 4, the East Avenue-to-490 Eastbound onramp will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. This closure is anticipated to repeat again from 7 p.m to 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, and may close again on Wednesday, subject to weather and contractor schedule.
On Monday, April 4, the I-490 righthand shoulder will be closed between I-590 and State Route 441/Penfield Road/Linden Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Then from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Tuesday, April 5 and Wednesday, April 6, there will be shoulder closures on the East Avenue-to-490 Eastbound on-ramp that will narrow motorists’ driving lane into I-490.
Motorists should expect to experience travel delays and are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
