Troopers: Driver charged with DWI, other charges in serious crash in Farmington

FARMINGTON, N.Y. (WHEC)— New York State troopers say a Canandaigua man is facing multiple charges including drunk driving after a crash that seriously hurt two people in Farmington Monday night.

Troopers say 32-year-old Jeffrey Shinsing was charged with DWI, first-degree vehicular assault, and several traffic violations. Police initially went to the scene on Route 332 and Collett Road around 11:30 p.m.

They say Shinsing was speeding north on 332 when he crashed into the back of another car that was slowing down on the road. Two people in the car that was hit were both taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. One person had to be cut out of the car.

Shinsing was also taken to Strong but his injuries were not considered serious.
