While Black Friday proved profitable and successful for many stores across the county, there was some fallout from the day as well.
Two Best Buy stores in Minnesota were hit by groups that came in a stole merchandise. One of the groups had a least 20 people in it, stealing items. The two incidents happened five minutes apart at stores 30 miles away from each other.
Both mobs got away before police showed up. The two separate incident underscored comments made by Best Buy’s CEO about a new trend popping up around the country.
"We’re seeing more loosely organized groups come together and target our stores," said CEO Corie Barry. "And frankly, you’re seeing it across retail – targeting stores and going in and grabbing large swaths of merchandise and running out. And what I would really stress here is for our employees, these are traumatic experiences, and they’re happening more and more across the country. Obviously, their safety is our first priority."
Employees at the stores that were hit on Friday say extra security has been added.
