ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — For those of you hoping to cross the northern border into Canada, you officially can as of Monday. The border reopened overnight for the first time since it had been closed since last March due to the pandemic.
A reminder, if you’re going to Canada for non-essential travel, like tourism or visiting family, you’ll have to be fully vaccinated and carry proof of vaccination.
But that’s not all.
You’ll also need a negative COVID test, and an antibody test will not be accepted. You must also be asymptomatic. Additionally, you will also need to register and submit all mandatory information on Canada’s ArriveCAN app or website.
Finally, you’ll need to take another COVID test once you get there.
Canadians are still not permitted to enter the U.S, at least through Aug. 21, but you will be permitted to come back to the country after leaving.
