VICTOR, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Victor community came together for a family facing a grim diagnosis on Sunday.

The Gypsum Mills neighborhood held a "Warrior’s Walk" fundraiser to support Warren and Elaine Stam.

Last fall, Warren was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and cancer in his liver. He had his first of several treatments this past Tuesday in an effort to ease the pain and hopefully make his body tolerate his journey with less pain.

The Warriors Walk included a 3-mile trek to support the couple, as well as a bake sale, raffles, and a silent auction.

"I am overwhelmed. I am absolutely overwhelmed. All these people. Some I haven’t seen in 10 and 20 years other than talking to on Facebook. The support here has been overwhelming and it just shows you what love can do to fight cancer," said Warren Stam.

This is family news for us at News10NBC. Warren worked here at News10NBC for more than 30 years. We’re pulling for him.
