ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Wegmans says it’s taking steps to bring back its hot food bars.
The grocery chain’s hot and cold food bars closed early on in the pandemic because New York State Department of Health guidelines didn’t allow self-serve buffets. Back in May, the company said it did not have plans to bring them back.
A spokesperson says a hot bar with chicken wings and other appetizers is now open at the Pittsford and Perinton stores and Wegmans plans to reopen hot food bars at more stores in the next couple of weeks.
However, the company says it does not have plans to bring back additional self-serve bars at this time, focusing on pre-packaged meal stations instead, during lunch and dinner hours.
