ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Police arrested a woman in connection to an explosion at an office building on North Clinton Avenue that happened back in January that damaged a cluster of mailboxes in a common area.
It happened at 7 N. Clinton Ave. at around 7 a.m. on Jan. 26.
A criminal complaint filed in federal court Wednesday charges Melissa Trenholm with damaging or destroying by means of an explosive any property used in or affecting interstate commerce.
According to the complaint, the building’s property manager told authorities that the explosion could have been related to an ongoing feud in which dog feces and moldy fruit was put into a neighbor’s mailbox and that neighbor then put it into Trenholm’s mailbox.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Trenholm’s father’s house, where she is now staying, and found M-150 explosives that were very similar to the M-150 that was recovered at the scene of the crime, the complaint alleges.
Trenholm was arrested Wednesday.
