ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — The 2019 World Series MVP, Stephen Strasburg, will begin playing for the Rochester Red Wings on Friday at Frontier Field.
Strasburg, from the Red Wings’ parent team the Washington Nationals, is on a rehab assignment and is playing for Rochester as he recovers from his thoracic outlet surgery.
Strasburg started in two games for the Nationals in the spring of 2021, before being unable to play because of right shoulder inflammation. He pitched in one game for the Red Wings on May 16 of 2021 while rehabbing his injury.
The three-time MLB all-star will be a member of the Red Wings as they take on the Buffalo Bisons at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
