Yellow Alert: Strong storms with torrential rain

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Yellow Alert remains up for strong thunderstorms this evening.

The main weather concern is torrential rain that may lead to localized flash flooding in some spots. This would mainly be street flooding, low-lying areas, small drainage and some basement flooding. As a reminder, you should never drive through flooded roads. In addition to the flooding rain, some storms may become severe, producing damaging wind and small hail.

The heavy rain and storms will be moving out of the area by 7 or 8 p.m., with just a lingering shower overnight. Stay with News10NBC for updates on-air and online.
