ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Crews battled a fire at a home on Portland Avenue on Monday morning.
News10NBC sent a photographer to the scene as soon as we heard it on the scanners around 4 a.m. The fire is near Shelmont Drive right down the road from Rochester Regional Hospital.
Crews say the fire was called in by a pedestrian walking her dog. No one was inside the vacant home and six engines responded to the scene. The roof caved in at one point but crews were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes.
