ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A replica of a Spanish ship, which is used as a floating museum, is expected to arrive in Rochester on Friday. The ship was supposed to arrive earlier but bad weather on the Great Lakes delays its journey.
The ship will dock at the Port of Rochester Marina, 1000 North River Street. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
The museum called the Nao Trinidad is a replica of the 16th-century ship, the Armada del Maluco (1519-1522), which was commanded by Ferdinand Magellan.
The life-size replica weighs 200 tons, is over 95 feet long, and has four masts, five sails and five decks. This ship has visited dozens of ports in Spain, Mexico, the United States and Europe. Its 2022 tour began in Two Harbors, Minn. on Aug. 3 and will arrive in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Dec. 6.
Adult tickets to the floating museum are $15, youth ages 5 to 12 are $5, and a family bundle is $35. Children under 5 are free.
