Man accused of stealing UTV, then taking it for a spin on SUNY Geneseo campus
GENESEO, N.Y. – A Dansville man is facing several charges after Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies say he stole someone’s UTV.
A Geneseo homeowner called police just after 3 a.m. on Nov. 6 to report someone had driven off with their UTV.
The University Police at Geneseo found the suspect driving it on their campus, according to deputies.
Neal Dehmler, 57, was taken into custody. He allegedly stole the UTV and two cans of gas from a garage on Riverside Drive.
When he was taken into custody, deputies say he had prescription medication on him – for which he did not have a prescription.
Deputies also discovered a warrant for Dehmler out of Georgia for assault, battery, making terroristic threats, and obstruction of police.
Dehmler was arrested and charged with fourth-degree felony grand larceny, third-degree felony burglary, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He is being held in the Livingston County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Georgia.
