ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — There’s $90 million available to help New Yorkers stay warm this winter.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the federal funding to help low and middle-income families with home heating costs.
A home heated with natural gas will now be eligible for $465, nearly a 33% increase over last year’s benefit.

The state will begin accepting emergency benefit applications starting next Monday for those who have already used up their regular benefit and are now facing a heating emergency.
