WASHINGTON (WHEC) – A local man who admitted to his role in the January 6th Capitol riot is asking for leniency at his sentencing.
James Mault of Brockport previously pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting, resisting, and impeding a federal officer. He admitted to pepper-spraying officers during the U.S. Capitol riot.
Mault faces up to eight years in prison. In court papers, his defense lawyer, Richard S. Stern, asks for less time because of “the stress from his harsh terms of confinement, the defendant’s multiple military terms, and his resultant PTSD."
