Mobile sports betting now legal in New York State

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — After a long wait, Saturday is a big day for sports fans in New York.

Mobile sports betting is now officially legal and for some it’ll be a brand new way to watch your favorite games.

Betting on fantasy sports through some apps has been legal for several years now.

What’s new is being able to place live bets on games happening here in New York.

Local sports fans said they were excited to start placing bets this weekend.

Geo-tracking will be used to make sure you’re placing your bets in New York instead of a different state where betting is illegal.

According to the Daily News, there’s no limit for how much you wager, unless it’s on a credit card. In that case, you’ll be limited to $2,500 in bets per account per year
