ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The community organization FIGHT — Freedom, Independence, God, Honor, Today — was founded on the heels of the 1964 Rochester riots.
Rev. Franklin D. Florence was president for several years, working alongside Chicago-based activist Saul Alinsky.
The group advocated for more jobs, better living conditions, and other critical issues in the city.
FIGHT pushed for Kodak officials to begin a job training program geared toward the Black community. They eventually did, which lead to more minorities working, not only at Kodak but other large firms in the city.
