Steuben County man sentenced to 10 years for possessing child pornography
PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Steuben County man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of possessing child pornography.
The Western District of New York announced the sentencing Monday, saying Jordan Sowersby, 27 of Painted Post, who was previously convicted for child pornography, will also get 20 years of supervised release.
Prosecutors say the charges stem from an investigation in January and February of 2021 when an undercover FBI Special Agent found Sowersby offering the illegal material for download on the internet and it was traced to Painted Post.
Further investigation revealed Sowersby is a registered sex offender.
On Feb. 26, the FBI, Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputies and New York State Police executed a warrant and seized several devices with child porn on them, prosecutors say.
