Guilty plea in deadly Canandaigua hit-and-run from October
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Canandaigua man charged in a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened back in October pleaded guilty to charges of second degree vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident.
Todd Smith is scheduled to be sentenced on May 3, according to Ontario County District Attorney James Ritts.
Edwin Wesley, 62, was crossing the crosswalk on South Main Street in Canandaigua on his scooter when he was hit and killed back on Oct. 23. Smith wasn’t arrested until almost a month later thanks to the help of tips from community members.
