Poll: Almost two-thirds of NY voters believe Cuomo shouldn’t run for re-election
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Almost two-thirds of voters don’t think Gov. Andrew Cuomo should run again according to a new Siena College poll of registered New York State voters.
Of those polled, 23% say they think he should resign immediately, 39% said he should finish his term but not seek re-election and 33% said he should finish his term and seek re-election.
Thirty-five percent of those polled said they are prepared to re-elect Cuomo if he runs and 56% said they would prefer someone else.
However, 45% of voters said they believe the governor should not be impeached, with 35% of voters, including one-quarter of Democrats, said they would like to see the Assembly impeach him.
As of June 2021, Cuomo’s favorability rating was 45% and his favorability rating was 45%. His favorability, like most politicians’, peaked when he was first elected; at 77% in February of 2011.
