Irondequoit town supervisor race too close to call, Greece supervisor keeping seat

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Elections for eight different Town Supervisor positions in the Greater Rochester area were held Tuesday.

In Greece, incumbent Town Supervisor Bill Reilich (R) was up against Democrat James Leary Jr. Reilich has held the seat since 2014, and it appears he’ll keep it. He’s on pace to beat Leary with almost two-thirds of the vote.

In Irondequoit, Democrat Joe Morelle Jr. faced Republican Rory Fitzpatrick. Dave Seeley stepped down at the end of July to become executive director of RochesterWorks! As of Wednesday morning, Fitzpatrick is holding onto the lead with 52% of the vote.

In Chili, incumbent David Dunning (R) was up against Democrat Chelsea O’Brien. Dunning won with 71% of the vote.

In Clarkson, incumbent Christa Filipowicz (R) was up against Democrat William Fine. Filipowicz won with 72% of the vote.

In Mendon, incumbent John Moffitt (R) was up against Democrat Jeffery Klein. Moffitt won with 61% of the vote.

In Pittsford, incumbent William Smith (R) was up against Democrat Kendra Evans. Smith won with 61% of the vote.

In Rush, incumbent Gerry Kusse (D) was up against Republican Phyllis Wickerham. That race was too close to call Tuesday night with just a few percentage points separating the candidates.

In Webster, incumbent Tom Flaherty (R) was up against Democrat Danielle Palermo-Jimenez. Flaherty won with 66% of the vote.

As of 7 p.m. on Tuesday, out of the 12,680 absentee ballots sent out, 6,951, or 54.8%, were returned.
