ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Vibration from drums and the chill from the sound of cymbals fueled the crowd as the 2022 Rochester International Jazz Fest kicked off.
"Live music, people watching, see some people, have a couple of cold beers, great food," said Lori Richenberg and Paul Tiffin.
Lori and Paul traveled from Canada just for this festival. They chuckled while describing the adventure they had just getting into the city, but say, it was worth it.
"We got lost in the parking lot but we’re good, once we got settled in. All the one-way streets are confusing but we’re glad to be here!"
Other jazz lovers in the crowd, like Charles Pryor, had one word to describe how he feels having Rochester’s big events back in action.
"Freedom. To be back out here and be around people and enjoying it, especially with some good weather too."
Many others we spoke to were playing the same tune.
"The sense of having this back in the community and having everyone back again, that’s the best thing about it," another festival goer said.
