RIT holds virtual ‘Expressions of King’s Legacy’ ahead of Black History Month

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — As we head into Black History Month, the Rochester Institute of Technology is celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Thursday morning, RIT held a virtual event for students and staff called “Expressions of King’s Legacy.” Bakari Sellers gave the keynote address.
He’s a New York Times bestselling author who was once the youngest African-American elected officials in the nation.
He spoke about the impact of the pandemic and racial justice movement and shared Dr. King’s words.
“Dr. King told us the answer to the question, where do we go from here is either chaos or community,” Sellers said. “The challenge for our generation, the challenge for Generation Z the challenge for everyone at RIT the challenge for everyone under the sound of my voice is to build community.”
