ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The City of Rochester named a civil rights heritage site Monday at Baden Park.
It’s named in honor of Minister Franklin D. Florence, a leader in the community for decades.
The city says he’s most well known as a president of the civil rights group FIGHT following the 1964 Rochester uprising.
Florence addressed employment discrimination at Kodak.
Monday, he addressed the change that’s been happening on the streets of Rochester.
"I don’t see how anyone in our community can stop fighting for human rights," Florence said.
Minister Florence encouraged people in the community to keep telling their stories and keep fighting in a non-violent way.
