Sex offender pleads guilty to sex trafficking by coercion

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester man who is a registered sex offender has pleaded guilty to sex trafficking by coercion.
The Western District of New York Tuesday announced Peter R. Kiwitt, 62, admitted to using the victim’s addiction to heroin to coerce her into performing sexual acts for money in the Rochester area.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa M. Marangola said Kiwitt was on probation in Monroe County when he committed the crime.
The charges stem from an incident back in January of 2019 when Rochester Police responded to a report of a minor’s deadly overdose.
Police say the man who reported the overdose told them he brought her to his apartment for commercial sex acts.
During the investigation, police say they determined Kiwitt had trafficked the victim until shortly before her death.
Kiwitt is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 22. He faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison.
