ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — News10NBC celebrates Black History Month by honoring the people and places that have paved the way for many in the Rochester area.

You’ve heard of the good, and you’ve heard of the great, but what about the best? Wyoma Best, that is.

Best was the first Black female reporter on TV in Rochester. She worked at News10NBC in the 70s.

She eventually left to become vice president of communications of Rochester’s Chamber of Commerce.

Today, the Rochester Association of Black Journalists carries out Best’s legacy with a scholarship named after her.
