ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. Dawson Knox was not here today for the Bills preseason win over the Broncos.
And it is no secret why. Just a few days ago we told you that his younger brother Luke tragically passed away at the age of 22.
It didn’t just send shockwaves throughout the team but of course all of Bills Mafia. And today at the stadium a moment of silence was held for Dawson’s younger brother. Afterward, the team addressed it.
“I think it’s important to keep proper perspective on things and how important that is,” Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott said. “And again that we’re thinking of them and wish we could be there with them so our love goes out to them.”
“When one of your teammates is hurting, you hurt with them,” Bills QB Josh Allen said. “You know, and I think you ask anybody in the locker room. Dawson is one of the most stand up guys.”
“When they showed his brother up on the screen,” Bills Wide Receiver Gabe Davis said. “And I kind of put myself in his shoes for a second because I have a younger brother as well that plays for UCLA. And I just know something I know that I would want is all the love for my brothers and my guys around. And I know that’s what it will be when he comes back and when he has his time and comes back when the time is right. But I know he wants us to also put a great performance out there because I know he expects nothing less.”
Very poignant moment at Highmark Stadium before the game kicked off, but once it did, the Bills had no trouble putting on an offensive clinic. 42-15 over the Broncos was the final.
Buffalo’s got one more preseason game left before turning their attention to the NFL’s kickoff game on Thursday, Sept. 8 against the Los Angeles Rams.
