Bills trade OL Cody Ford, release WR Austin
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WHEC) – On Tuesday, the Bills made two more moves, as they are now less than two weeks away from the 53-man roster deadline.
Ford was shipped to the Arizona Cardinals who traded the Bills a 2023 fifth-round pick in return.
The offensive lineman was drafted by Buffalo in the second round in 2019. He started 15 out of 16 games in his rookie season, but over the next two years only saw action in 22 games. Ford finished the 2020 regular season on injured reserve and fought to stay in the starting lineup last year.
Austin was a late addition to the Bills roster this offseason, signing with the team on June 2. The NFL veteran struggled to find his footing during training camp in a crowded wide receiver room.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the Bills have 80 players on the active roster with Ike Boettger on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
