Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier spoke highly of first-year corners Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford as the team prepares for Tre White’s return.
Both rookie corners are not only expected to make the Bills 53-man roster, but have very big roles, especially in White’s continued absence. And Frazier saw some positives in their first NFL preseason action against Indianapolis.
“When they had opportunities to make plays, they made plays. They were physical, they got their hands on balls, they were good in man coverage. For the most part, their eyes were where they should have been in zone. We were pleased with their first outing,” said Frazier.
Both Elam and Benford finished with two tackles and one pass deflection each.
The Bills drafted Elam out of Florida in the first round. Benford played at Villanova and was selected in the sixth round.
Buffalo’s next preseason game is on Saturday, August 20 at 1 p.m. against the Denver Broncos at Highmark Stadium.
