Amerks Ride 1st Round Momentum Into Utica On Tuesday
UTICA, NY (WHEC) – Last week, the Rochester Americans were in search of their first playoff win since 2014. After getting it with an overtime win, the team then reached another milestone by beating Belleville in the extra period again: its first playoff series win since 2005. Now comes the North Division Semifinals.
Rochester travels to Utica for the first of a five game series against the Comets on Tuesday night at 7pm. They’ll stay there for the 2nd game on Saturday night at the same time before heading back the next day to host game three, which is scheduled to begin at 5:05pm. If neccessary, the Amerks would then host again on May 17th. Following that, if a game 5 was needed, both teams would go back to Utica.
But it’s one game at a time for Rochester. Heading into tomorrow night, the team believes momentum can work in their favor.
"You certainly have a positive kind of mojo and vibe in the locker room right now from from back to the last game of the year where we are in a must win game and we won to the two overtime games," head coach Seth Appert said.
"I think it was it was a battle for us both games and I think we can carry that in," goalie Aaron Dell said. "They haven’t played yet you know, since the last time we played them, I think. So I think we can carry that over and and they’re starting fresh. So I think that’s what we can use as momentum."
This series will be the first ever meeting between the two teams in the postseason.
