ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer Monday responded to the proposal to build a new stadium for the Buffalo Bills across the street from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
It looks like taxpayers won’t foot the entire projected $1.4 billion bill for a new home. Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula now say they’re committed to paying a portion of the projected cost of the proposal.
During a briefing on the infrastructure bill Monday, Sen. Schumer said we’re in good hands with Kathy Hochul.
"I’m confident with a new governor from Western New York — who’s a Bills fan — working with her, working with the team, working with the localities, and working with the NFL, I am confident the Bills will stay in Buffalo," Sen. Schumer said.
How the total costs will be split is unclear, and will be determined in negotiations with state and county officials.
