ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Amerks and Seneca Park Zoo hosted an event on Thursday morning to remove litter in downtown Rochester.
Members of both the Amerks and Knighthawks front offices, alumni, and season ticket holders took part in the conservation effort.
The clean up consisted of picking up plastic waste around the arena that would harm species that live near the Genesee river.
Volunteers shared the importance of conservation in the downtown Rochester area.
“Bluecross Arena is downtown is a beacon of entertainment and we want to take that as serious as we can while making it fun. It is our responsibility to keep it clean and safe and keep inviting people downtown to enjoy it,” said Rob Minter, vice president of business operations at the Amerks.
This upcoming season, the Amerks will host a “conservation game” with the Seneca Park Zoo. It’s scheduled for February 24th of 2023.
