VICTOR, N.Y. – It’s the day so many people have been waiting for all year. Black Friday is back, and so are some of those deep discounts to help push store merchandise out the door.
News10NBC visited the Eastview Mall in Victor where thousands of shoppers are spent their day. Stores inside the mall are hoping shoppers come with deep pockets this holiday season. So far things went well as stores were packed all day long.
“Good, successful. Even though we have to come back. It’s going good so far,” said Zyasia Gunter as she was leaving the mall.
That’s exactly what mall management wants to hear from shoppers on Black Friday. The day was all about finding that perfect holiday gift from stores that are well stocked with merchandise to sell.
“Before last year it was almost like a drought with finding gifts, and then this year it feels like we’re finally finding something. So that’s good,” said Megan Johnson.
Not everything is deeply discounted, but for the most part Johnson, and her husband Steven are pleased by the prices.
“There are some things that are a little bit pricy, but there’s still prices and the sales are very reasonable. You know you got stores that are 30 percent off, 40 percent off. Everything is still totally reasonable,” said Steven.
Other customers agree, and say they are trying to shop smart this Black Friday.
Andrea Pascucci added, “I mean we’re are big, like sales shoppers so we never really went out and spend all like crazy money.”
Retailers operating in the “red” depend on Black Friday shoppers to help them turn a profit before the end of the year, while hoping they splurge on gifts.
“Especially on my grandchildren of course,” said Sally Pascucci. She continued, “You know I have two grandchildren, and whatever they want I will get it.”
Zyasia Gunter also added, “I have a daughter so this year my daughter is going to get the majority of my money.”
Black Friday isn’t the only big shopping day this weekend. Saturday kicks off Small Business Saturday, followed by Cyber Monday.
