ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Community members are hosting a second town hall meeting to discuss a public takeover of RG&E.
The town hall comes amid a nearly 20% rate hike proposed by RG&E and continued billing errors. The meeting is at the Gleason Auditorium of the Rochester Public Library on Monday, December 19 from 6-8 p.m.
This time, all of the Rochester City Council members will be in attendance. This second meeting aims to broaden public engagement and public support while bringing more city leadership to the table to seriously consider a public takeover.
They’ll discuss the possibility of replacing RG&E with a community-owned utility that will be more affordable, accountable, and climate-conscious.
