Hundreds of people enjoyed some live music on Saturday in Greece, all in support of a great cause, the Warrior Benefit Concert.
This is the eleventh year of the concert fundraiser at the American Legion Greece post. All money raised goes to support those who are recovering from wounds received while in the military, both physical and emotional.
The event organizer says they have already raised $14,000 in donations, and that they are hoping to double that by the end of the night.
“It’s a cause that everyone here at the legion feels strongly about, it’s not just me. It’s our home here at the American Legion, here in Greece, and all the volunteers we get to help us out with this event. That money goes to people in need, veterans in need. Whether it’s paying a mortgage, an RGE bill, food for their family at Christmas, furniture they can’t afford, maybe a ramp if they’re in a wheelchair,” said Mark Ostrander, event organizer.
Most of the money raised today will stay in the four-county area of Monroe, Livingston, Wayne, and Ontario Counties.
