Fisher’s Wegmans School of Nursing receives $1.1 million grant for increasing diversity
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — St. John Fisher University is looking to increase the diversity of the student body in their nursing program through a $1.1. million grant.
The university will receive the funding over the course of three years to increase the number of underrepresented students in the nursing program. The university will also work to increase the diversity among its faculty.
Fisher’s Wegmans School of Nursing is one of eight grant recipients in New York State.

The grant money will be used to create the Fisher Improves Nursing through Diversity program. That program will create scholarships for students enrolled in it and aims to create a culturally inclusive and supportive environment.
The school has received $5 million overall from the health resources and services administration since 2016.
