ALBANY, N.Y. — More funding is coming to support abortion services across New York State.
Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday announced $13.4 million awarded in the second round of the abortion provider support fund.
It will go to 37 providers, including the University of Rochester Medical Center and Unity Hospital. Hochul announced the funding back in May in anticipation of the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
The funding will help providers deal with an influx of patients from out of state.
“The stress that our reproductive health providers, our doctors, our nurses, our volunteers, our administrators has been extroadinary and what they do is nothing short of heroic,” Hochul said. “They’re on the front lines providing compassionate care to people who come through that front door.”
$10 million was awarded in July in the first round to sites around New York State.
