Local man to represent U.S. at military skills competition in South Africa

SPENCERPORT, N.Y. – A local man will represent the United States at the South African National Defense Force Military Skills Competition later this month. New York National Guard Army Command Sergeant Major Marc Maynard, of Spencerport, is one of five men competing from the U.S.

The event includes rifle shooting, and grenade throwing, along with an eight kilometer run and swimming obstacle course. Command Sgt. Major Maynard is also the team coach.
