Body found near Hemlock Lake confirmed as missing Penfield man

SPRINGWATER, N.Y. — The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of a body that was found Wednesday near Hemlock Lake.

Nicholas Biermann, 32, went missing from Penfield on Monday, Aug. 22. Officials issued a vulnerable missing adult alert after he didn’t show up for work.

Deputies found the truck that Biermann was last seen driving at the South Hemlock boat launch in Springwater on Tuesday at 10:40 a.m.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, while searching the area near where Biermann’s vehicle was found, search crews located the remains of a deceased adult male in a heavily wooded area about a mile south of Biermann’s vehicle. The remains were transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and cause/manner of death.

On Monday, OCSO confirmed that the body found was Biermann. No foul play is suspected.
