UPDATE: Vehicle hits NYSP car on Warner Street after pursuit
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two Rochester men were taken into custody after their car hit a marked New York State Police patrol car while being chased by troopers.
Troopers pulled over a 2014 Chevrolet Impala at about 5:36 p.m. Thursday. The driver, Amiricle J. Snead, 22, at first stopped and showed his identification, then sped off. Troopers pursued him over several city streets, then at 5:38 p.m. State Police say Snead turned right onto Warner Street, hitting a trooper car that was heading north on Warner.
Snead ran off on foot and was taken into custody without incident, police say. The passenger, Davian F. Pride, 20, was also taken into custody. Both were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. the troopers were not injured.
News10NBC spoke with one man who says he saw it all happen.
“All of a sudden there was another state trooper coming the opposite way — white car whipped out, hit the state trooper head-on,” said Scott Harris. “One guy got out, started running, jumped over a fence that I could see, and then the cop that was in the cop car that got hit, he got out of the car and started chasing after him. And all of a sudden there was 20 cops.”
NYSP says the investigation is continuing.
