Driver ticketed after crash on I-590 southbound that left him injured

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A driver is hospitalized in stable condition after his car crashed on I-590 southbound near Blossom Road on Friday morning.

Monroe County sheriff’s deputies ticketed the 26-year-old driver and are still investigating the crash. Deputies say they spotted his car speeding on Empire Boulevard in Penfield toward I-590 just before 3:30 a.m.

Before deputies could get close enough to pull over the car, the driver lost control and hit the guardrail on I-590 southbound. The car overturned and hit a support post for an overhead sign.

Deputies performed first aid on the driver until fire and EMS crews arrived. An ambulance took the driver to the hospital.

Deputies closed the expressway between Browncroft Boulevard and Blossom Road but it has since reopened.
